Board Changes at BSI

17 May 2018

BSI, the business standards company, announces the following board changes:

  • Alicja Lesniak retires
  • Dr Stephen Page to Chair the Social Responsibility Committee
  • Douglas Hurt to Chair the Audit Committee

Alicja Lesniak, appointed as a BSI Board Advisor in 2014 and then Non-Executive Director in 2015, retired from the BSI Board and the Chair of its Social Responsibility Committee on 30 March 2018. Alicja has been a valuable member of the Board and BSI thanks her for her contribution.

Dr Stephen Page was appointed Chair of the Social Responsibility Committee with effect from 1 April 2018. Stephen was appointed to the Board in September 2015 and, in addition to being a Non-executive Director of BSI, is currently a Non-Executive Director of TSB Banking Group PLC, Nominet UK and the British Library. Stephen has a wealth of experience which will help the Committee develop further BSI’s engagement with its stakeholders and ensure that Social Responsibility continues to be an integral part of BSI’s business.

On 1 June 2018, Douglas Hurt will become Chair of the Audit Committee in succession to Lucinda Riches who continues as a member of the Committee. Douglas Hurt is a Chartered Accountant and has held many senior financial roles including Group Finance Director at IMI PLC. He is a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee at both Tate & Lyle PLC and Countryside Properties PLC. His significant recent and relevant financial experience means that he will be well-placed to lead the Audit Committee in its rigorous oversight of BSI’s financial controls and reporting.

Sir David Brown, Chairman of BSI said: “BSI remains committed to the highest standards of corporate governance and this is reflected in its Board Committees which are chaired by, and primarily consist of, Non-Executive Directors. I am delighted to announce the appointment of Stephen Page and Douglas Hurt as Committee Chairs and I am certain that their knowledge and insight will continue to strengthen the robust governance processes that underpin the trust placed in BSI.”
